| Amino acids are the chemical basis for all protein & are the building blocks for all life. The human body uses amino acids to form protein which makes up everything from skin & hair, to muscles, fluids, organs & bones. There are 22 natural amino acids of which 8 are essential amino acids as they cannot be synthesized by the body & must therefore be obtained from food. The rest are known as non essential amino acids as they can be manufactured in the liver, but are also just as important. The 8 essential amino acids include: Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan & Valine. The non-essential amino acids inlcude: Alanine, Asparagine, Aspartic Acid, Cysteine, Glutamic Acid, Glutamine, Glycine, Proline, Selenocysteine, Serine, Tyrosine, Arginine, Histidine, Ornithine & Taurine. Those who could benefit from the supplementation of amino acids include vegetarians, people with stress related fatigue, hypoglycemia & allergies. |
