Protein King's Best Creatine Supplement 2013

Creatine supplements are one of the first choices for anyone looking to gain size, strength and muscle. They're one of the most-reviewed bodybuilding supplements in existence, and have proven for many years that they really should be part and parcel of anyone's supplement stack.

With the range of creatine available today, it might be hard to sort through the advertising and pick the best one for your needs. Well, we've done the hard work for you.

Below are our choices for Best Creatine Supplement 2013. We've based this on four categories: creatine dosage, support ingredients, overall blend and value. Although they work very well, we've left out basic creatine monohydrate supplements in favour of the more ‘potent' or ‘hardcore' blends.

3) Max's Cre8 Carnage

Creatine Dosage - 7/10
Support Ingredients - 8/10
Overall Blend - 9/10
Value - 10/10
Overall - 34/40

Max's supplements are some of the best no-nonsense ones in the supplement world, and Cre8 Carnage is no different. It features a blend of 8 different forms of creatine, which is more than any other on the market, and is exceptional for absorption and uptake. Although it only provides 3g of creatine per serve, there are 130 serves in each container, making it by far the best value creatine blend you'll find.

Added to the Cre8 Carnage mix is beta-alanine, histidine and arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, which makes it an all-round excellent choice for anyone looking to boost their creatine intake and their workout performance.

2) Controlled Labs Green Magnitude

Creatine Dosage - 9/10
Support Ingredients - 9/10
Overall Blend - 9/10
Value - 8/10
Overall - 35/40

Controlled Labs don't advertise as much as the major supplement companies, but their products have gained an immense following due to the excellent ingredients, flavours and value they provide. Green Magnitude is a combination of two forms of creatine - dicreatine malate and magnesium creatine chelate, which are two of the more advanced forms.

Added to the mix are a full 2g of betaine, 2g of taurine and 500mg of tyrosine, which all help to boost the volumising and performance effects of the creatine. Each tub is a full 80 serves, which is very good value.

1) Cellucor Cor-Performance Creatine

Creatine Dosage - 9/10
Support Ingredients - 9/10
Overall Blend - 9/10
Value - 8/10
Overall - 35/40

Although only by the smallest of margins, we give the edge to Cellucor Cor-Performance Creatine. We love the blend of Creapure creatine monohydrate, Creasorb electrolytes, betaine and Cinnulin (to enhance the uptake of the creatine). With the Cinnulin added, Cor-Performance Creatine doesn't need a high-carb insulin spike to get fully absorbed, which means it's perfect for post-workout even if you don't want to take in carbs at the same time. Each 8.2g serve has 8.15g of active ingredients - you aren't paying for fillers like maltodextrin or a bunch of unnatural flavours.

Although it was extremely close, we give the 2013 Best Creatine Supplement award to Cellucor Cor-Performance Creatine.
