BSN Hyper Shred Review

BSN Hypershred at Protein King

With BSN’s footprint in Australia growing by the week (they have five pre-workouts on the market currently!), there’s always a demand for new and exciting products. BSN fans haven’t been let down – the juggernaut keeps rolling out additions to their staples – NO Xplode, Syntha-6 and Amino X.

One of the most anticipated releases in recent times is the new BSN Hyper Shred fat burning formula. With the Hyper Shred capsules being one of the more popular fat burners around the world, the Australian market now has the powdered version of Hyper Shred available for sale. Let’s take a look what’s in each tub!

BSN Hyper Shred Key Ingredients

- Acetyl-l-carnitine (ALCAR) – One of the first ingredients found in almost any fat burner, carnitine helps to release fat from the body to be burned in the mitochondria of cells for energy. Add to that a neuro-boosting effect and even blood glucose-lowering effects, and ALCAR is a no-brainer.

- L-tyrosine – Tyrosine is featured in many fat burners and pre-workout supplements due to it’s cognitive-boosting effects. These effects are magnified in stressful situations, such as around workouts or during diets.

- Caffeine anhydrous – Another no-brainer, caffeine is one of the most studied supplement ingredients on the planet. For anyone training, caffeine is a great addition to their supplement intake, and has been shown to boost: running capacity, power output, fat oxidation, training volume, alertness and reaction time.

- Longan extract – This is one of the more interesting ingredients in Hyper Shred – we haven’t seen it in many (if any!) other supplements on the market. While there isn’t much research on this fruit, it appears to have been used in traditional Asian medicines for a long period of time, and it’s primary role is to boost cognition and focus – always an important consideration for a weight loss supplement.

- Other ingredients – Hyper Shred also features several other ingredients, including red pepper extract, green tea extract, ilex guayusa, l-theanine and toothed clubmoss extract. These ingredients combine to assist primarily with mental focus, as well as fat burning and anti-anxiety effects.

BSN Hyper Shred Flavours & Sizes

Hyper Shred currently comes in a 30-serve tub, in Strawberry Orange, Blueberry Lemonade and Citrus Pineapple flavours.

BSN Hyper Shred Dosage

While the inactive ingredients make up a decent portion of the serving size of Hyper Shred (approx. 4.5g out of 7.5g), there are two saving graces here – the active ingredients are dosed pretty well, and the product tastes great. In terms of doses, 1.5g of ALCAR is a good start, along with 250mg caffeine, 500mg tyrosine and 150mg red pepper extract. One serve should give anyone a decent buzz, especially with the huge list of focus and cognition ingredients.

Why we like BSN Hyper Shred

- The price! (Currently $45.95 for a 30-serve tub)
- One of the most mental focus-heavy ingredient blends we’ve seen
- Great flavours

The Bottom Line

Will BSN Hyper Shred be a hit in the Australian fat burner market? For anyone who thinks current leaders like Oxyshred and Body Shred V3 are a little light in the mental-focus ingredients, Hyper Shred might just be their go-to.
