How Many Calories Should I Eat?

One of the popular questions I get asked is: How many calories should I eat to lose/gain weight?

And really the answer for everyone is going to be different. What I have always suggested is to start somewhere!!!

My best recommendation to anyone is to begin at 2000 calories then track your weight for about 7 to 10 days. This will allow you to find out if you are gaining or losing at that caloric level.

All we do from there is adjust according to our goals. If we want to gain weight we slowly add calories and if we want to lose weight we slowly decrease calories.

Here I have provided a simple sample 2000 Calorie diet for you all. It’s plain and simple and covers all your nutrition requirements including plenty of Fibre also.

Breakfast 
Oats – 60g
1 Medium Banana – 120g
Frozen blueberries – 70g
Cup of Almond Milk – 250ml

Snack
1 Large Apple – 140g
Small handful of Almonds or Cashews – 20g

Lunch
1 Wholemeal Mission Wrap – 71g
Lettuce
Tomato
Extra light Cheese shredded -25g
Chicken breast – 200g

Snack
Chobani Plain Greek Yoghurt – 170g
Small handful of Almonds or Cashews – 20g

Dinner
Lean Beef – 200g
Medium Grain White or Brown Rice cooked – 200g
Mixed Vegetables – 250g
