Whey Protein Isolate, or more commonly known as WPI, is probably one of the most essential supplements to have in your cabinet.
Protein makes up the basic building blocks of muscle repair and recovery: an essential ingredient if you are serious about your fitness and health. When you're slogging it out in the gym, you want to ensure you are providing your body with the nutrition it needs to recover and grow/repair the muscle fibres.
Protein King WPI is one of the purest forms of protein available, and also one of the most expensive to produce, compared to cheaper forms like WPC. This is due to the fact that it has undergone more processing to remove more of the unwanted carbs and fat. The final product is a more pure and cleaner form of protein powder; allowing your body to get the nutrition it needs without the stuff that it doesn't.
Here are a few tips to get you steering in the right direction when it comes to choosing a quality protein powder supplement:
- Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC)
Does your current protein powder have WPC in it? WPC is not necessarily a bad protein, but it is cheaper to make and does have a higher fat and carb content. Not something you want, especially when you’re paying WPI prices. Protein King Pure WPI, is just that: Pure WPI. Not an unknown ratio blend of WPI and WPC.
- Maltodextrin / Dextrose
Great as a weight gainer, but not great when you are looking to tone up and build lean muscle. Commonly used as a cheap filler ingredient, so unless you are specifically looking to bulk up by using a weight gainer product, maltodextrin or dextrose should definitely NOT be in your WPI Protein. You won't find any of this in Protein King Pure WPI.
- Artificial Sweeteners
The majority of protein powders on the market use artificial sweeteners, but we only use all-natural stevia in our Protein King Pure WPI. Some companies will be a little sneaky and just put a number, without including the name of the sweetener. Here is a list of some of the common artificial sweeteners and their numbers: Ace K (950), Aspartame (951), Sucralose (955).
- Artificial Colours
Seriously? Do we really need to be ingesting an artificial rainbow while making our stomachs feel like a chemical wasteland? Stick to the natural colour or colour-free variety like what you find in Protein King's Pure WPI.
After taking the above information into consideration, we believe our Protein King WPI really is the best WPI on the market. After all, we originally produced the product for our own personal use years ago, and we continue to use it to this day. Try the 1kg at $40 plus shipping, then come back and get the 3kg variety which works out at $36.67 plus shipping. (Prices valid as of November 2021).
But how does it taste?
No, it’s not going to taste like a candy bar, but our Pure WPI definitely tastes good. Light, creamy and not too overpowering - just how you want it. It currently comes in two flavours: Chocolate Milk and Vanilla Shake. We love it, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
